My gaze is always drawn to the lovers

Arm in arm, carefree and in love

Their love for the world to see

It’s never hidden away

Stolen kisses and touches just that second too long

Volumes of emotions spoken with just a glance

Innocent sounding words

A whole language all of our own

A love conducted behind closed doors, within selected company

We go to offbeat clubs, travel far and wide

Whispered phone calls, coded messages

A love as silent as it is strong

Why have I chosen this life?

I didn’t, this life has chosen me

I did not choose to fall in love

I have played the mistress before,

I know all too well the rules of this game

But this time the Gods have stepped in

And shown me a love so exquisite

it takes my breath away

And so I arrange my life around my love

I am grateful for our time together

I have learnt not to look towards the future

I appreciate every second of today

And perhaps that makes our love stronger
