Naked Love

I have loved you for all eternity

I was just waiting to meet you

the cliche of where have you been all my life

Rings true and hollow

Because you wouldn’t be you if I had met you before

and I wouldn’t be me

and there would be no us

So instead I look to the future

and curse all the others behind me

For not loving you the way I do

For taking your innocence

For wasting the joy that is you

For not being me

So I stand here before you

with nothing to offer but my love

My undying devotion

my thoughts, my wishes, my hopes for the future

my plea for your acceptance

as I have accepted you

and absorbed you within me

I stand here naked before you

no armour, no veils, no lies
